Happy flow arts Friday 🌟 The FFA board learned much in the process of inviting, evaluating and awarding the 2023-2024 Seed Fund Grants last cycle, and have made a few key adjustments for the upcoming cycle, which will open 1 October 2024. Here are some of the highlights …
Seed Fund Awards will be made for Tiers 1 - 3 only:
• Tier 1: up to $1,000
• Tier 2: $1,001 - $5,000
• Tier 3: $5,001 - $10,000
.
What had been known as Tier 4, for grants that range from $10,001 - $20,000, will be awarded in a separate “Community Development Investments” process.
.
Project types will alternate year by year:
* Events/Flow jams
* Teaching/Outreach
* Performance/Presentation
* Resource/ Research  
In 2024-2025, the next cycle, we will consider applications for the Teaching/Outreach and Resource categories.
In 2025-2026 we will consider Events/Flowjams and Performance/Presentation.
The plan is for the categories to alternate year by year.

We will also be hosting application workshops to explain the guidelines, expectations, and offer tips and answer questions from interested applicants. These will be held virtually:

Wednesday, October 8, 2024 at 5 p.m. PDT / 7 p.m. Central / 8 p.m. Eastern
Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 7 p.m. PDT / 9 p.m. Central / 10 p.m. Eastern  These sessions will be recorded and available to view after they take place.

To all applicants of the 2023-24 Seed Fund Grant and community members: thank you for your interest and support!
We wish to let you know that we will be delaying the announcement of the awards from March 1 to March 15. We were blown away - and a bit taken by surprise - by the amount of applications we received, and require additional time to properly vet and review everything. The applications are being administered and reviewed by a team of volunteers, all of whom have other full-time work, so we thank you for your patience.
As previously posted, we received over 160 applications, but to put that into context with regards to our budget: we had set aside $50,000 for this round of grants and received requests that total over $900,000! This interest far exceeded our expectations and budget, and will be an interesting challenge as we navigate the fund into the future.
It is exciting to know how many people in the community are passionate about advancing and sharing the flow arts, and we look forward to offering more grants in the coming years.
The grant awards will be posted on the fundtheflowarts.org website and everyone who applied will receive notification of the result of their application. Thank you again for all you do!

The Seed Fund was established in 2011 as a program of Fund the Flow Arts to provide small grants to projects and that serve the non-profit’s mission of advancing the prop manipulation-based Flow Arts, fostering local Flow Arts communities and cultivating a global community of Flow Arts practitioners.
