Here is an update on one of last year’s grant recipients: Flow Jams for Santa Fe Flow Arts Community “We are so thrilled to have help hosting monthly flow jams in Santa Fe. We have had a huge success at our fire jams, as well as traction with the local fire department that gave us an open permit. The fire jams are attended by around 15-30 people each time, and it’s turned into a space where a lot of new people show up and learn. Since our venue doesn’t serve alcohol, we’ve been able to have more families with children attend than the jams we were doing previously at a bar. We love this. More seasoned performers skill share during this time as well, which is amazing for everyone. We have collaborated with local DJs and have been able to have 2-3 DJs donating their time and spinning during our fire jams. It’s very much a community event. Once we pay our venue cost, the excess we split 50/50. Half of it goes to Santa Fe Flow Collective, which stashes it for cans of community fuel and for when we don’t meet the venue cost. The other half goes to the local social justice circus that is our venue, which is much needed at this time.” Fund the Flow Arts is a US-based nonprofit established in 2011 to present and promote the Flow Arts. The combination of play and concentration have helped me share the fun of flow arts with many people this year, ages 15-74 so far! It’s so much fun helping people discover a new passion in flow arts at various stages of life. My own mom, who suffers from chronic pain, was so pleasantly distracted by her veil poi going “round and round” (there’s an adorable video of this moment) she wasn’t hurting at all during her spinning practice. Link in bio to apply! ✨🔥✨🔥 Here is an update on one of last year’s grant recipients: Flow Arts in the Park “With the money from this seed grant, we successfully ran our first ever flow zone and workshop event at a local day festival, Feel Good Fest, in September this year. We can’t wait to bring the flow zone now to more local festivals. It was such a blast to see so many children and adults come up and flow throughout the day with us. We roughly had at least 30 if not more participants join us over the course of the day, and ran the flow zone from 2 - ~8p that evening. One of my favorite memories was watching one 11-year-old boy go from saying he couldn’t do contact staff because he felt too embarassed, to picking it up and deciding by the end of the day he wanted to make contact staff his new hobby!” Fund the Flow Arts is a US-based nonprofit established in 2011 to present and promote the Flow Arts. Eastside Spin Jam!
“Thanks to the generous grant we received, Eastside Spin Jam has flourished this year! We’ve been able to host weekly events consistently, averaging 13 flow artists in attendance throughout 2024, with our largest gatherings attracting up to 24 participants. During the rainy months, when the grant covered our indoor rental fees, we maintained an average of 15 attendees. In addition to our weekly gatherings, we’ve launched monthly workshops, ensuring that the funds from the grant go directly to our talented instructors. One of the most heartwarming aspects of our jams is our scheduled “circle time,” where artists share what they are working on and get to know each other better. This fosters a deeper sense of community and connection among participants. It’s inspiring to see our program grow and evolve, and we look forward to continuing to provide a welcoming space for all flow artists to practice and share their passion. “My most used prop so far has been the silk fans and poi; they have been fantastic to use to introduce people to the world of flow arts. So far the highlight has been getting to offer a free workshop in collaboration with a local fire troupe for their community family fun day. I’m looking forward to working with them more for community outreach. My favorite moment was captured at that event, between me and a friend of mine who previously thought flow wouldn’t be accessible to them due to their health issues. Cascade Juggling Festival

“Our reboot of the Seattle Juggling Festival as Bellingham, WA’s Cascade Juggling Festival was a huge success! We nicely filled out every venue we booked, with over 400 total in attendance between the gym attendees and the sold-out gala show. Workshops were full, and all the faculty got a 50% raise over our initial projections (which included no grants or sponsorships). Expectations for CJF ran the whole range from “”low”” to “”outstanding”” and were exceeded at every level; even those who had high expectations were pleasantly surprised, and those with low expectations (there were a couple!) were blown away by the support from local and visiting community. The most popular piece of feedback about the gala show was a compliment to its variety. Between balls, clubs, hoops, aerials, poi, and even Eric Sipos’s surprise meteor act, no two acts in the show were the same and the audiences are still abuzz.” Fund the Flow Arts is a US-based nonprofit established in 2011 to present and promote the Flow Arts.
