2025-26 Community Development Initiative :: request for proposal

Fund the Flow Arts is inviting proposals for projects that will investigate/ promote/ instruct on the Flow Arts’ impact on and connection with wellness and human health. Areas of investigation can include, but are not limited to: Physical health including physical therapy, Mental health including recovery or different types of therapy, Aging, and Youth Development.

The project should result in a resource that will be made available to the community at large, and can articulate benefits beyond “it’s fun,” and does more than collating existing research. We are hoping to find a project that can articulate the connection between a flow practice and its benefits – not simply a poi/hoop as exercise class.

An overarching question to consider in shaping your proposal is: How do we promote the Flow Arts for generations to come?

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated history of engaging in the work proposed, have a deep knowledge of the Flow Arts and any other subject matter relevant to the project, and present a project that is aligned with the mission of Fund the Flow Arts.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to check in with Fund the Flow Arts regarding the appropriateness of their projects. Please email info@fundtheflowarts.org with the subject line CDI Project Inquiry.

Maximum grant award is $20,000

The application period is open from October 15, 2025 – December 31, 2025.

We are thrilled to announce the recipient of the 2025 FFA Community Development Investment grant. Congratulations to the Party Liberation Foundation – a 501c3 from Richmond, VA committed to fostering community artistry, creative education, diversity, and fire safety in their local and regional community.

Formerly known as the Seed Fund Tier 4 Grant, this award is intended to be a more substantial investment in an already ongoing project or initiative that centers the Flow Arts and helps to promote the mission of Fund the Flow Arts.

Our mission is to:

  • Advance the prop manipulation-based Flow Arts
  • Foster local Flow Arts communities
  • Cultivate the global community of Flow Arts practitioners.

Funding can range from $10,001 – $20,000. In order to be eligible for this grant, the project or activity must already be underway and be able to demonstrate community engagement, momentum, and sound management.

Application Process:

Please submit a Letter of Intent to info@fundtheflowarts.org that describes your project. Please be sure to include in this letter:

  • How long the activity has been running;
  • How it serves the mission of Fund the Flow Arts;
  • The community it serves – this can be based on geographic location or identity or other factors;
  • A short description of what the funds will be used for/how the investment can benefit the community you serve and your organization or project;
  • Put Community Development Investment LOI and the name of your project in your subject line.

All letters will be reviewed by the Board members and subject-matter experts drawn from the community.

The projects deemed the best able to help Fund the Flow Arts fulfill its mission will be invited to submit a full-proposal. This proposal will include an application form with detailed questions, as well as a project budget, marketing plan, and resumes of the project leadership and key personnel.
